Will it be updated?
What gives?
After app has been downloaded app will not reopen once it has been closed. To use this app don’t close it after downloading.
I use this app more than I use my FlyQ EFB. Everytime I get in my plane I pull up the baro pressure. Lately when I touch the icon it flashes on for a millisecond and then disappears. I downloaded it and it will work for a few times and then the same behavior happens rendering it unusable. I’m using IOS 16.1.1
Any updates coming?
I use several apps and they all basically do the same thing. But, for quick info like weather and phone number for ASOS, nothing beats the simplicity of this app. That’s why I keep using it.
Super easy and fast to learn. Great emergency back up. Literally just point and click and all the info is there. Big bonus is it keeps a pilots eyes looking outside in a heads up position.
Amazing I have used Foreflight and FlyQ. The instrument package with plate overlying the map or on split screen improve situational awareness. The Merlin ADS-B integration is so good I won't fly without now
Does not work at all. Don’t waste your time.
The augmented reality in this app is amazing. Every pilot should have this app. It makes finding airports super easy. Make sure that you watch the introductory video as it explains calibrating and all of the features.
I found this app to be extremely useful when flying to a new airport I haven't previously been to. Not to mention, finding airports at night amid clusters of civilization is a breeze with InSight. As long as you recalibrate periodically, InSight truly will provide augmented reality to find your destination. Hint: install on your phone, NOT your iPad. The phone is far easier to manipulate in the cockpit.
I really enjoy this app. Basically it is the old FlyQ but with the upgrade of using your camera to see where the airports are. Click on the airport in the camera view and it brings up the airport info. The only thing I wish it offered was sectionals so I could have a reliable backup for my FlyQ EFB on my iPad.
I have used Flyq combined with the Dual 190 GPS for a year. In my Cessna 172 I added a yoke mount for my mini IPad. It gives all the features of a state of the art instrument panel at a small fraction of the cost. This is a very user friendly app that is a must have for the general aviation community.
I guess Seattle Avionics decided that I didn't need FlyQ anymore? I'm sure that this ap may be fine in flight, but I have used a FlyQ pocket for years for last minute weather checks, airport lookup, services, etc. How do you just cancel an ap and switch it to something else? I'm switching to ForeFlight
Very handy, great UI, actually switched from ForeFlight.
Works okay, but not sure how useful it is. Doesn't seem to have a moving map, which I think people would want. A moving map like the Forelight or Garmin iPhone app would be nice.
I was a big fan, but of late I have had endless difficulty with repeated crashes. Flight plans are impossible to input, and differ from the iPad version when pulled up on another unit. Great as an airport directory, and that's about it.
I wrote a review previously and am back to update my thoughts on this app. It’s a great app on its face. Very easy to use because all of its menus and options are intuitively accessed. However, I dropped using this app for a competitor a few months ago because I lost confidence in it. The TFR feature did not work consistently. I almost got snookered a couple of times because of TFRs that were in place over the Phoenix metropolitan area that didn’t show up on the app. (And unlike other apps, it wouldn’t show planned TFRs ahead of them becoming active.) Ultimately, it led me to wonder what else doesn’t consistently work with this app?
Great interface. Super fast customer service. The company really listens. Several features that I have requested have shown up in updates over time.
Great app, always in the flight bag! The few times an issue has come up, the support has always been fast and helpful.
I've been using the FlyQ iPhone app as my first go-to for airport and weather information. A quick and easy check gives me preliminary flight planning information and enough to continue planning or just to no go today. My wife uses FlyQ EFB on her iPad along with a wireless ADS-B in device for flight planning and enroute navigation/traffic/weather. We are looking forward to using Chart Data in the newly upgraded panel with dual Aspen devices on our C182K. Thanks, Steve P and all the gang at Seattle Avionics for these great products.
They should say you need AOPA membership and the app lost a lot of functionality when DTC duat ended service. They need to update it to access CSC Duats.
Duats lost their affiliation with the faa. This app has not upgraded to Duats replacement...Lockheed Martin for terminal services. Until this app updates it is only partially functioning and therefore unreliable for me.
Great app. Seattle avionics is awesome as far as keeping it on the cutting edge. FYI, one reviewer said that you myst have an AOPA membership to use. Not true. And the guy stuck in the password loop, put in the correct password. DUH! It's a 5 star app!
Love this app! Very easy to use and handy. However, it has stopped pulling METARS. Those tend to be very useful, so without weather the usefulness of the app is significantly degraded.
Cannot get out of infinite loop asking for new password.
Would be nice inform that AOPA membership is required to use this app.
Best all around , mixes the best from all others. Easy to read displays , intuitive banding route changes , SV, this is the standard now. I started w WingX , Foreflight, Garmin, very good and King-very very good, but they gave up. If Fly Q is not intuitive for you there are short tutorials that can hold your interest. Add Google Earth presentation of actual route and radio / GS frequencies / displays ( glass cockpit) /functionalities and we be home. Truly excellent . Get three mini iPads and iPhone 6 plus back up you , on a fold away device ...you have a glass cockpit for about $1500. What a deal.
Other AOPA apps haven't done so well but to date, I've not experienced any issues with FlyQ Pocket. Works as advertised. For quick weather conditions in my area or while traveling, it's been great. It's like an advanced A/FD in my pocket for everywhere I want to go. Makes planning easy, too. I like having all the runway information available and all the frequencies listed. Even if not flying it's great to pull up info on a local airport so I can tune in and listen in as I sit and watch the traffic
Come on AOPA. YOU CAN DO MUCH BETTER. Basically useless for an active flyer
I really find this app to be a useful tool. However, the latest update to the software now gives you a dark background and it is hard to read the text. It'd be nice if you change this back to a white background so it is more legible.
Was an awesome app before the most recent update. Since it has been updated I have not been able to view the radar image. It always says "Image currently unavailable" Very frustrating...
Not working. Please fix.
The new update is useless. It can't find any nearby airports, doesn't recognize my airport identifier and won't let me set a favorite airport. As a flight instructor, I used this AP every day and recommended it to all my students as well as my fellow instructors. But not anymore, it's useless! Bring back our old FlyQ!
This is my go to weather app for almost 2 years! I'm a flight instructor and it provides on the go weather and saves me an immense amount of time, the new update isn't interfacing with my iPhone 6 it says there aren't any airports nearby and I'm at the airport!!!! Help please!
Anyone having problems with locating nearest airports or getting weather: Try deleting the app and re-installing. Fixed my iPhone 6+ issues.
Great app before iOS 8 messed it up. It now won't load nearest airport but some of the time. Same with the Wx. I still give 5 stars knowing they will fix it. (I hope)
PLEASE UPDATE FOR IOS7!!
I use the app constantly. Weather, airport info, aopa comments on airport stops. This is a must.
I think this app is great. Very nice versatility. The fact that I have the weather report on hand is a plus. AOPA is an organization to be proud of.
A must have app for flight planning. I am particularly impressed with the design of the app. There is a lot of information available, but it is presented in an organized and well formatted fashion. Easy to learn, easy to use. Highly recommended.
This would be a five star app with one exception - you have to babysit the download section when updating chart data, otherwise your phone will sleep and you have to start the download over again. I love the app otherwise.
Very nice app. Quick way to get the info I need before flying my local area. Very convenient
Update one year later and it still feels like it. App does all that is asked and runs well with ios7+. --- I am getting my money's worth out of my AOPA membership with this app. Unbelievable!
I have tried a lot of flight tools. A lot of them come and go, this one I use every day. It does what it does so well, you'll be checking it on the days you don't fly. If you're a VFR pilot, this will be your new favorite app. Digital cockpit must. period. Kudos to AOPA, this is the best app on my iPhone. Really, brilliant.
Great for pre-flight planning. Check the weather at different airports along your route and destination airport in raw or translated formats. Call the ASOS/AWAS # right from airport info page. I use FlyQ Pocket before every flight.
AOPA continues to respond to the ever changing needs and wants of its members with the release of this app. Well done!
Just used the app for the first time last week during a flight. Love the IFR and VFR weather updates. Easy to use. Worth the membership/download.
This is a nice little application. I use it on my iPhone mostly for planning leading up to a flight. Practically speaking, the phone format is too small for inflight use. I will switch to the iPad version...eventually. For now my trusty paper sectional is still my favorite tool for VFR flying. Two things need to be fixed: 1) Develop a capability to reverse a route. Currently, you have to rebuild the return leg as a separate flight plan. 2) It keeps defaulting to the fuel value in my settings. Not every flight begins with the same fuel value. We need to be able to customize this for each leg. Otherwise, the fuel calculation is useless, and potentially dangerous if one were to depend upon it. I expect that in a another version or two this will be a 5 star app.
